To promote safe bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation through education and advocacy

Welcome to BikeOklahoma!

Our mission is to transform Oklahoma into a top-tier, bike-friendly state through enhanced education, safe infrastructure, and a deep community commitment to mobility. We are excited to announce our recent transition to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a move that allows us to focus more directly on education and safety while inviting tax-deductible support to fuel our mission.

Our Strategic Vision is centered on elevating the voices of Oklahomans of all backgrounds to ensure that our state’s and cities' transportation policies reflect the safety and mobility needs of all residents, not just cars. We are dedicated to shifting the state’s transportation budget focus from a traditional "roads and bridges" perspective toward a more sustainable and equitable model that prioritizes transit and active transportation networks.

As our vision turns into detailed implementation plans, our website will include details about our outreach, education, and legislative efforts, including organizing local champions in towns across the state.

From advocating for rail-to-trail legislation, to fighting local battles at city councils to prioritize bike/ped infrastructure (that actually makes streets safer for drivers too), to supporting high-profile events like the Route 66 Centennial and the 2028 Olympics, we are excited to have your support and energy in building a safer, more connected Oklahoma.

Let's turn up that Walk and Roll music!

U.S. Bike Route 66

For over 10 years BikeOklahoma pushed for the approval of the U.S. Bike Route on Route 66.  Members Pete Kramer, Kevin Mussett, Bill Elliott, and others are applauded for their efforts to make this happen.

Oklahoma received its first U.S. Bicycle Route designation in 2022 with the designation of U.S.B.R. 66.  Bart Vleugels, ODOT Active Transportation Coordinator, has been instrumental in getting Route signs posted.
